Unchecked means this Company is not available for Company Login.

Add a new Company

When you Insert a new Company the system assigns a CompanyID.

Before a Company can be used it needs its database created. Use SQL Server Management Studio or equivalent to create that database by restoring from Adapta2008Co899.bak to the applicable database name. For example, the database name associated with a CompanyID of 1 is named Adapta2008Co1. After restoring a database please review the information in Setup.txt in your Dba folder and complete any tasks outlined there that are applicable to your installation.

When the database is initially restored it contains sample data. Use the Company maintenance task and choose Options | Empty Database… to prepare that database for production use.

After other Companies have been set up

Once you’ve set up your production Company or Companies and worked with them for a while you may have little interest in the original Demo Company. However, while its Active field is checked, it will continue to be available for Company Login. To make the Demo Company unavailable for Company Login simply uncheck its Active field.

This same approach may be used to make any Company unavailable for Company Login. That is, when the Active field for a Company is checked it is available for Company Login and when the Active field is unchecked it isn’t. There may sometimes be special reasons why you may wish to inhibit anyone logging in to any Company and in that case you could uncheck the Active field for all Companies except for the Demo Company and then specify a Company Login password for the Demo Company that nobody else knows.
