Transaction Entry forms

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Transactions entered in forms like this are maintained in transaction entry tables until they are posted to the actual transaction tables. This style of transaction entry is used throughout the General Accounting modules.

Transactions may be posted individually or as a batch.

Transactions may be printed out prior to final posting and compared with other audit control totals or be subject to other administrative approvals before final posting.

Only fully valid transactions are eligible for final posting. Partially completed transactions may be entered into the transaction entry tables but these transactions will remain there until they are completed and are fully valid. Transactions in the transaction entry tables have no effect elsewhere until they are posted to the actual transaction tables.

Another style of transaction entry occurs within the Sales Orders and Purchase Orders modules. In those Order Entry and Maintenance tasks the transactions immediately affect the underlying database tables.
